Our 1ST crowdfunding recipient

There are up to 310, 190 non EU students studying in HE across the United Kingdom, during any one academic calendar year.

We want to help each and every student who may need help to raise the finances. So they can get the legal help they need while they're studying.

Our 1ST funding recipient is Roxanne. Get to know her by reading her blog posts.

Don't wait around to buy our rewards. Let's help Roxanne to access the legal advice she needs about the best way to get the practical experience she needs. So she can be the best architect she can be!

But let's not stop there. Let's club together and raise enough money to help at least 4 students in need for the next 12 months. Thank you for your donations and being a friend to international students.

Guest blog by Voice of Salam - Would you pay tens of thousands of pounds for an incomplete degree?

We're delighted by the growing media interest in the plight of international students in the UK.
Click this link to read the excellent article by the blogger Elizabeth on her blog the Voice of Salam.

Please would you read this article and ask yourself this very tough question: what would you do if you'd spend £200,000 to learn a highly specialist subject in a foreign country. Then find out you couldn't learn all the skills and subject matter;only towards the end of your degree. After you'd spent alot of time and alot of money working towards your professional qualification.

How would you feel?
What would you do?

Would you want others to help you get justice?

Maybe these questions might be quite challenging in the current context of the immigration debate in the UK. Ponder these questions until the next guest blog posts from Media Activist Jay Baker are published.

There are over 2 million international students in the UK

Our goal is to be able to have enough funds and resources to respond to any student who needs legal help while studying. That's alot of money to help up to 310,190 students. We're determined to scale operations to meet this ambition. But to start, we'd like to help at least 4 overseas students with our current fundraising for 2016.  We definitely want to help one.

Our crowdfunding has now gone LIVE.
Please click this link to make a fair education for international students in the UK a FACT.

Please give generously so that we can SMASH our target and  help as many international students as possible in the next 12 months. We hold on record more than 4 international students who've unsuccessfully tried to find help to finish their studies.

According to HESA stats, there were just over 2 million international students in the UK in  2014/15.

"UKCISA stats show there were 310,190 non EU students
in Higher Education in 2013-14"
source HESA Students in Higher Education 2013-14

Records suggest 90% of international students who study at university; enrol on HE vocational studies. Commonly called "sandwich courses." If the current obstacles stay in place. It will be virtually impossible for any of these students to finish the studies they start and  obtain the full professional qualifications of the university HE course they 're on.

We'd like to have the funding and resources in place to help each and every overseas student who may need help and support. But, we're putting a sustainable model in place so we're starting with a modest budget which we're looking forward to build on.

Donate today so A fair Education for international students  in the UK becomes fact.

Thank you

FAQs

Educating Beyond Borders

Since we've launched the crowdfunding campaign to help Roxanne and other international students raise the fees they need to access legal help while they study in the UK. We're very pleased the interest in our organisation has increased. We're getting more questions than we can reply to individually. So we've made this page public. We'll regularly update this post with new questions you may send us. Thank you

 Frequently Asked Questions

What is E.B.B.?

We are a non-governmental organization (NGO)

How is EBB run?

EBB is set up, run and funded by a group of volunteers. Our volunteers are located across the globe.

Our Focus

We operate at an international level. Our activities focus on international students getting a fair education in the UK. To achieve this our interests include improving delivery of education, institutional discrimination, human rights, equality, racial discrimination, access to skills, quality of learning while on placement

I'd like to volunteer, do I have to be in London?

No, many of our volunteers are not based in London. We operate remotely, relying on emails, Skype and apps

I'm an international student, what kind of funding help can I get?

We're still a small organisation run entirely by the good will of our army of volunteers.
However, we may be able to assist you if you run into these types of issues while studying:
  • visa application is in dispute and need legal assistance to be able to finish studies
  • the course you're on is not the course you believed you paid for
  • adverse decision by the Home Office which prevents you from completing studies
  • Any other changes to policies and laws that prevent you from completing the course you enrolled on
  • university has lost accreditation and or validation; is threatened with closure or you are informed the course you have enrolled on will no longer be delivered by the university part way through studies
  • problems securing an industry placement needed as part of studies
  • problems securing additional practical or extracurricular activities:
  •                    that allows the international student to complete equally for future study or career                      opportunities
  •                    would enhance the student CV,
  •                    allow the student to access the best study/graduate programs or career opportunities
  • Prevented from progressing to higher level of studies - eg Masters to Phd
  • University suddenly increases tuition fees
  • Student cannot meet the cost of a field trip which is part of studies
  • if you are considering leaving the UK but are concerned about loss of life or threat of loss of life due to violence, oppression, persecution, war, natural disasters or diseases such as Zika
Tweet: overseas students can run into these problems while studying. GIVE today and help http://ctt.ec/f02e5+
We currently cannot meet these need or requests:

  • scholarship requests, maintenance grants or hardship bursaries
  • If you have committed a criminal offence, have been involved in criminal or terrorist activities and are now being investigated.
  • Have finished your studies and would like funds to apply to settle in your host country
  • Have obtained your professional qualification and would like funds to apply for Tier 2 visa

Does the money go to the student?

Our fundraising program is designed to disburse the monies invoiced  directly to the nominated legal professionalEBB does not charge the student; neither deduct money from funds raised to pay for operating overheads or administrative costs for managing the crowdfunding process or to pay the legal bill on behalf of the student

please contact us directly via email if you'd like to receive an itemized bill for receiving and paying funds on behalf of the international student
